Design Difference: Designing Our World 2050

Organisers of the 26th International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) World Design Congress today announced the latest programme developments relating to "Design Difference - Designing Our World 2050".Icsid, the world body for industrial design, will be holding its biennial Congress for the first time in Singapore from 23 to 25 November.
This year's Congress will directly address today's global challenges which will shape the world of 2050, including issues around agriculture, climate, education, health and mobility.The event itself embraces the future by featuring "Design2050 Studios", inter-active and participative mini-symposia, led by world-renowned creative experts, including Chris Bangle of Chris Bangle Associates, and Stefano Marzano of Philips Design.In the months leading to the Congress, each of the Design Leaders will head up a team of four to six individuals from multi-discipline backgrounds to create a Design2050 proposition, by imagining, conceptualising and visualising a desired future.Participants at the Congress will be invited to transform these ideas into practical realities.

4th United Designs Exhibition

Los Angeles (United States) - The 4th United Designs International Biannual Design Exhibition, a celebration of international awareness between education and profession in graphic design, has announced its call for entries.

An estimated 300 designs from 25 countries will be on display at the Exhibition from 29 June - 20 July 2009. Organised by Icograda Member, Korean Society Experimentation in Contemporary Design (KECD), and the Art Department at California State University Northridge (CSUN), this year's exhibit will be a tribute to all the participants of the United Design exhibition.CSUN and KECD invite design professionals and educators in the field of graphic design (publication design, package design, corporate identity design, brand design and computer graphics) to participate in the 4th United Designs.Design CategoriesPoster: About world environmental awareness, A1 sizePractical Design: Any printed design project done in year 2008-2009

2009 Taiwan International Design Competition

Taipei, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) - Icograda is pleased to endorse the 2009 Taiwan International Design Competition.
In response to contemporary design phenomena as well as other global issues this competition will be operating under the theme of "Restore". Through this theme, TIDC hopes to explore design as a tool to create new opportunities and restore the world back to its prosperous state.Since its inception in 2002, the TIDC has become one the most prestigious and authoritative design competitions in Asia. It is not only a futuristic design competition open to creative talents worldwide, but also aimed at encouraging design interactions and international cultural exchanges.
In order to further trigger the creativity of young students, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has cooperated with the Ministry of Education i planning an expansion of the competition scope since 2008.TIDC 2009 consists of two main sections, both operating under the same theme. The 'general' section is open to designers, design educators and design students of all ages. Participants who are interested in submitting their work under the general section of TIDC are required to design pieces that fit within the product design category. The 'student' section is open to design students under the age of 26 who may submit pieces under product design, visual design and/or digital animation.

Design Korea 2009

Korean Institute of Design Promotion announced the theme and dates for the Design Korea 2009.The theme for this year's event is: Sharing the future of design.The Twenty-first century has been called the age of design, where design is of the utmost importance; the essence that drives innovation.Design has become a key element that enables sustainable and harmonious coexistence of human beings and environments.
Design Korea will be an opportunity to encounter a new philosophy of design, to expand networks in the creative industry and to exchange information among people from all around the world.Design Korea will open the way toward a higher standard of global design.This biennial international design business event aims to provide an introduction to the latest trends and information in design business, as well as an opportunity to expand design business networks.

Trnava Poster Triennial 2009

The call for entries is now open for the Trnava Poster Triennial (TPT) 2009, an Icograda endorsed event.
From now until 15 May 2009, designers, authorial teams or design studios and students of Fine Arts academies can submit their designs for posters or websites created between March 2006 and the competition deadline.
The Trnava Poster Triennial (TPT) 2009, an Icograda endorsed event, is a public non-anonymous international competitive exhibition of posters produced around the world.
Organisers of the seventh year of the TPT take advantage of the 17-year-old good reputation of the event, declaring its support for traditional values respected by the international graphic design community and at the same time bringing innovations reflecting the constantly changing character of graphic design.
With the introduction of a new category - B - design of websites - TPT 2009 uses the principles of information dissemination in both the public and virtual space. It takes over and expands characteristics and possibility of a poster. Confrontation of both media can clarify the contemporary characteristics of each of them as well as their interrelation.
